Cell Line Assay Services for Brain Tumors

Cell line assay services for brain tumors

Cell lines are widely used as model cells for normal or brain tumor tissues in research and drug development. To avoid mislabeling or replacement of cell lines by cells from other individuals, tissue, or germline sources, it is necessary to perform cell line assays. Short tandem repeat (STR) genotyping has been applied as the gold standard for cell identification by authorities.

Our cell line assay services for brain tumors

Alfa Cytology offers a wide range of services including STR-based cell line identification and mycoplasma detection, where alleles on the STR locus can be distinguished by the number of copies of repeats in the PCR amplified region. We match the resulting STR typing results with STR data of cell lines from multiple databases to derive the name of the cell line to which the sample belongs or possible cross-contamination.

  • Human cell line origin consistency assay (two cell samples).
  • Human-mouse cell cross-contamination assay (presence of mouse-derived cell contamination in human-derived cells, and presence of mouse-derived feeder layer cells in stem cells).
  • Human-derived cell STR typing assay / ATCC cell line identification.
  • Cellular mycoplasma assay (sample amplification using mycoplasma-specific primers allows determination of the presence of mycoplasma in the sample).

Technical advantages

  • High accuracy. We provide STR identification service for cell lines, adding multiple highly polymorphic loci to the 8 STRs and 1 sex-determining locus tested by ATCC.
  • Full service. The typing results can be compared with several authoritative cell databases to identify not only the correct brain tumor-related cell lines but also whether cross-contamination of cell lines has occurred.
  • Short cycle time. We have a full set of testing equipment and a professional experimental platform to provide customers with services in the shortest time.

Alfa Cytology can provide identification services for human-derived brain tumor cells and mouse cells with reliable data and short cycle time. We will deliver a written report of the assay results at the end of the project, including cell STR typing data, the presence of multiple alleles (cross-contamination), and a map of STR typing. Please contact our staff to submit your project requirements.
