In particular, the mechanisms that shape the plasticity and malignant phenotype of CSCs during tumor evolution, such as immunogenicity, proliferation rate, differentiation, self-renewal, and migration.
Further understanding of how inflammatory signals and immune cells shape the function of CSCs and reprogramming the "dialogue" between TAMs and CSCs can help influence their ability to promote tumor formation, disease progression, and metastasis, and ultimately to eradicate tumors or avoid tumor recurrence. More research will be conducted in this field in the future to utilize this emerging knowledge to provide new ideas and new targets for clinical oncology treatment.
